Back to Ballet, Back to Business.

August 9, 2019 / by Jenna / Leave a Comment

This week I got to go back to my first ballet class! I have been going to floor barre but it’s not quite the same. Immediately back in class, I am met with the dancer brain again. The dancer brain that says to push. To ignore pain. To achieve perfection in your lines. And to not complain about anything. The dancer brain sounds like such a fun place to be huh? Writing it out sounds actually hilarious in how ridiculous it is. I definitely found new wisdom within me today that told me to slow down and speak up, and no I am not allowed to stay for the whole class yet because my Doctor is progressing me slowly. For anyone out there recovering from an injury, big or small-I feel you! And don’t rush it. But trust your body can heal :). It’s a tricky mind balance. Because we don’t want to rush. And yet I do believe that our bodies can do so much more than we think, and we do limit our bodies with our beliefs. Maybe we subconsciously limit our bodies with our beliefs, but our ego wants to prove that it can be amazing and this is where imbalance occurs. Or maybe that’s just the story of my life.

Audition moments this week. This week I have auditioned for three commercials, all self tapes I had to send in. One involved zero dialogue and me simply ‘re-stocking a shelf, breaking a glass item, and sweeping it up’. Another I played an orthodox Jewish woman. And another I had to ‘act like an influencer’ and talk about how much I love my wireless headphones. Commercials are so weird. But hey- would love to book some. Then I had an audition for a good old fashioned musical. Long story short the accompanist and I were not quite in sync and I think I got a little too energized because I ended up slightly screaming one of the words. This was quite unnecessary but it was just what came out of me in the moment. Looking back it’s quite hilarious. Only to me. They probably just think I like to scream.

I would love to write more but I actually have a last minute audition I have to prepare for…..now! That’s all for this week. I hope you are all enjoying the sweetness of the end of summer. Who wants to take me ‘back to school shopping’? That was the best.

P.S. I did pass my test everyone and I work at a gym now as a personal trainer!

Here is a picture of a salad to remind you that I am still doing whole30. And so is Joe and so is Annie and so it my Mom. And my my friend David. Honestly we haven’t heard from him so he could be swimming in pools of cotton candy right now for all we know.
